Which academies this covers
This programme is run by Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Upper West Side and Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Wall Street, and it covers those two locations only.
Between our two academies it makes no difference where anyone trains. If you’re a member at Upper West Side and your friend joins Wall Street, you still get your $50.
Other Renzo Gracie academies — elsewhere in New York, or anywhere else in the world — are separately owned and run their own programmes. A friend who joins one of them isn’t a referral here, and we’re not able to credit it. Everywhere these rules say “our academies”, they mean Upper West Side and Wall Street.
Who can refer
Any current member of Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Upper West Side or Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Wall Street whose account is in good standing — an active membership with no overdue payments. This has to be true both when you refer someone and when your reward is paid.
There’s no minimum time you need to have been here. Your first week counts.
Staff and instructors can’t take part. Bringing people onto the mats is part of the job.
Who counts as a new member
Your friend qualifies if:
- They haven’t been a member at either of our two academies in the last 12 months.
- They aren’t already in conversation with us. If they’ve contacted us in the last 6 months — an enquiry, a trial booking, a visit — the referral doesn’t apply. If it’s been longer than that, your link counts.
- They aren’t part of your household.
How to refer
Share your invite link from the app. That link is how we know they came from you.
If your friend forgets to use it, our staff can record the referral by hand — but only before your friend’s first payment. After that we can’t add it. That isn’t strictness for its own sake: the link is the only record that exists, and we won’t guess about who brought whom.
Your friend has 90 days from opening your link to join.
Only one member is credited per new member. If two people share a link with the same person, the first one counts.
When the reward is earned
When your friend makes their first successful membership payment. Not when they book a trial, and not at their first class.
What you both get
You get $50 off, once, for each friend who joins.
Your friend gets $50 off their first full month.
How it’s paid
Your $50 comes off your next invoice. It isn’t cash, it can’t be given to someone else, and it can’t be applied to invoices you’ve already paid.
If you have no invoice coming — you’re paused, you’ve paid for the year, or your membership isn’t billed monthly — your credit waits, and goes onto the first invoice you do receive. It doesn’t expire for as long as you’re a member.
For your friend, the $50 comes off their first full month. When someone joins partway through a month, that first part-month is charged at the normal rate and the $50 applies to the full month that follows.
Families and children
If a family enrols more than one child, each child who joins is a separate referral and earns you $50. Each one counts toward your yearly limit.
Where a parent refers on behalf of a child’s membership, the credit goes to whoever pays the account.
If your friend leaves
If your friend cancels within 30 days of joining, the referral is reversed.
If your credit hasn’t been applied yet, it’s cancelled. If it has already come off an invoice you’ve paid, we won’t take it back — what’s given is given.
Limits
Up to 24 referrals per member per year.
Sharing your link
Share it with people you actually know. Please don’t:
- Send it to strangers in bulk, by text, email or message.
- Use it in paid advertising, or advertise using the Renzo Gracie name.
- Post it to classified sites, coupon sites or deal forums.
Rewards from that kind of sharing will be cancelled, and it may end your participation in the programme.
Privacy
We’ll tell you when someone you invited joins. We won’t share anything else about their membership, their payments or their training.
Changes to the programme
We may change or end this programme at any time. Changes apply going forward only. Any referral already recorded keeps the terms that applied when it was recorded — if we change the reward tomorrow, referrals made today are unaffected.
Questions
Talk to the front desk. Where a referral is in question, our record of the link decides it, and the academy’s decision is final.
Start date
This programme begins on 17 August 2026. Referrals before that date don’t qualify.
